John J. Genovese, LCSW

John J. Genovese, LCSW is a New York University-educated social worker with over a decade of experience providing clinical care to multi-diagnostic and at-risk populations. With compassion and respect, he collaborates with clients to actively treat the emotional suffering, complex trauma, serious mental illness, addictions and destructive behaviors they tend to struggle with.

John is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy through Behavioral Tech, LLC. He also has extensive training from experts in the clinical applications of mindfulness through completing a 2-year psychotherapy program at the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science. In addition, he frequently attends meditation retreats and is an avid yoga practitioner.

John currently works at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center on a DBT inpatient unit where he provides individual therapy, leads skills groups and conducts milieu skills coaching. He is also on the Adjunct Faculty at Queens College—Graduate Program in Mental Health Counseling and a Field Instructor for Columbia University—DBT Training Program and Lab.
