Alumni Career Talk with Sofia Qin, ’15, UX Researcher at Uber | Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Please join us for a special talk with CSSW Alumna Sofia Qin, ’15 to hear how she navigated her post-graduate career, starting as a research participant recruiter at Google and now a User Experience (UX) Researcher at Uber.

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Sofia graduated in 2015 from CSSW. Soon after graduation, she stumbled into user experience in the tech industry, which turned out to be a perfect blend of all her interests. She started off as a research participant recruiter at Google where she worked on bringing in publishers and advertisers to participate in Google Ads research. A year later, she jumped on another opportunity and relocated to Silicon Vally to work as an user experience researcher on the Google Analytics team. That’s the start of her career of working with designers, product managers and engineers to build user centric products through research and iterative design. She recently joined Uber in San Francisco.

Sofia advocates for the user and the social good in her UX practice. She is passionate about finding innovative ways to make a positive impact.

Sofia was born and raised in Shenzhen, China.

NOTE: Sofia will be speaking on her experience as an alumna of CSSW and not as a representative of Uber or her previous employers; i.e., the views expressed will be her own and not of the organizations.

Alumni Spotlight: Miracle Allums LMSW ’15 Launches Virtual Support Service for Mental Health Professionals

The Office of Career Services and Leadership Management would like to extend a warm congratulations to CSSW Alumna Miracle Allums, LMSW on the recent launch of her new business, Mhoodle, a virtual support service for Mental Health Professionals!

Miracle founded Mhoodle after noticing a gap and need for more holistic support for mental health professionals, particularly those in private practice, having seen challenges through own experience as a psychotherapist in schools, hospitals, private practice, collaborative care, and international support services. By providing a platform where clinicians can have all of their administrative, operations, and marketing needs taken care of, she hopes to help them stay focused on the work they love and are purposed to do — providing stellar mental health support to the community.

A 2015 graduate, Miracle is also a fierce advocate for holistic wellness. She became a Labor and Postpartum Doula, having completed her doula training with Ancient Song Doula Services, an organization that primarily serves woman of color throughout the New York City Area. She is also a Reiki II Practitioner and has trained with Reiki Master Jean Bromage, becoming a practitioner of both western and eastern lineages. of Reiki.

Please join us in celebrating her achievements!
