CSSW Alumni Recognized for Notable Contributions to the Community

Congratulations to the following alums who have been recognized for their great work in the community!

David Feinerman ’08, Head of Workforce Innovation, Cuyahoga County Department of Development in Ohio, was honored with Crain’s Excellence in HR Award for his transformational impact on the workforce system through his creation of SkillUp, a first-of-its kind, free business advisory service that helps companies identify business problems, create solutions, and drive results.
Brian Rosenbaum ’11, Engagement Manager at United Way of Greater Los Angeles, was profiled in Voyage LA for his volunteer work as Board President of Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Los Angeles (YNPN LA), a membership-based organization that aims to connect, empower, and support emerging, mission-driven professionals.

CSSW Writing Center Seeks Applicants for Part-Time Writing Consultants for Fall 2019

The Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW) Writing Center seeks applicants for part-time writing consultant positions for the 2019 Fall Semester.

Writing consultants work on-site with CSSW Master’s Program and PhD students on writing for coursework, field placements, and applications. Students schedule appointments in advance and choose to meet online or in person. During meetings, students agree on a session focus with the writing consultant and review their writing progress to identify and develop transferable writing skills and strategies. Sessions, which last either 25 or 50 minutes, are aimed at bolstering student confidence and skills in writing, while helping students improve their drafts.

Candidates must already have a graduate degree or be currently enrolled in a PhD program related to social work, teaching, composition / writing, or other relevant fields.
