“Leaning Into Suffering: A Meditative View of Restorative Justice” with Sujatha Baliga

sujatha baliga, vice president and director of the Restorative Justice Project at Impact Justice, will lead a discussion of the relationship between mindfulness and restorative justice and offer experiental practices to manage challenging political and personal moments.
A former victim advocate and public defender in New York and New Mexico, baliga was awarded a Soros Justice Fellowship in 2008 which she used to launch a pre-charge restorative juvenile diversion program in Alameda County. Through the Restorative Justice Project baliga helps communities implement restorative justice alternatives to juvenile detention and zero-tolerance school discipline policies. baliga is also dedicated to applying restorative justice approaches to ending intrafamilial violence and child sexual abuse.
