LOCATION
Over the past few years we’ve honored 28 people for living successfully in the aftermath of prison incarceration…..
On Saturday, August 11th of 2018, we are we are highlighting ALL 28 as they CONTINUE to give us a NU statistic to celebrate. This event will feature Justice in Education Scholars, Pastor Isaac Scott and Tiheba Bain.
This year’s theme:
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Because recidivism isn’t everyone’s story.
Because images matter.
Because alternative examples matter.
THE AFTERMATH is a free community event recognizing, highlighting and celebrating Loved Ones who are living successfully in the aftermath of prison incarceration.
Due to the stereotype that’s currently plaguing the minds inside and outside of our communities regarding those released from prison incarceration, we overstand the need for events such as THE AFTERMATH.
As many work on giving birth to justice in this Country, presenting positive examples of Loved Ones who have successfully reintegrated into society is also very necessary in establishing some sort of balance with regard to the negative images we have been programmed to see and the possibilities and probabilities, these alternative examples show us of what can be.
“To think that we can change the law without also assisting people in changing their mindset on how they view Loved Ones re-entering society is a major error in judgment.”
