August 22, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FROM PRISONS TO COLLEGE DEGREES: A Conversation on Incarceration and the Importance of Higher Education Join us at The Fortune Society in Long Island City on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 6 pm for an insightful discussion on the challenges and triumphs faced by individuals with justice histories who are pursuing advanced degrees.
Ronald Day, Associate Vice President of Fortune’s I-CAN program, and current doctoral candidate, will lead the conversation with Kandra Clark (Fortune’s Strategic Partnerships Liaison and Senior Grant Writer), Brittany Smith (Fortune’s Director of Education), Jay Holder (Justice in Education Scholar at The Center for Justice at Columbia University and recent valedictorian of the largest graduating class from Mercy College’s program at Sing Sing) and Jarrell Daniels (Research Assistant at The Center for Justice at Columbia University).
College Initiative and College and Community Fellowship will also be on-site to provide additional information and resources to formerly incarcerated individuals interested in pursuing higher education.
Come celebrate with us, as higher education, not past justice history, defines one’s future.
