In response to the chronic outbreaks of law enforcement–related violence in the U.S., Brooklyn–based startup Rise is facilitating a community–wide Spark workshop for Columbia students and the broader entrepreneurial community in NYC. What activities can citizens participate in to end the cycle of violence in communities?
Rise is a mobile app that aims to answer the question “What can I do to help?” by providing users with a curated selection of causes. The app fosters shared values and a network of friends and communities by providing a platform for donations, videos for audience engagement, and social sharing.
Guest speaker Robert Gangi, CC’65, Director of P.R.O.P. (Police Reform Organizing Project), will bring 20+ years of experience in the field to help guide workshop participants and evaluate any ideas or proposals developed at this workshop.

This workshop is open to all who are willing to bring their ideas, experience, and connections to help solve social and environmental challenges that these social innovators aim to address.
