Talk: “National Policy and the Roots of Mass Incarceration”, Elizabeth Hinton, Assistant Professor, Harvard University

Elizabeth Hinton is Assistant Professor in the Departments of History and African and African American Studies at Harvard University. Hinton completed her doctoral work at Columbia University in 2012, dring which time she served as the Managing Editor of the late Manning Marable’s Souls: A Critical Journal of Black Politics, Culture, and Society. A Ford Foundation Fellow and a former postdoctoral scholar in the University of Michigan Society of Fellows, Hinton’s book, From the War on Poverty to the War on Crime: The Making of Mass Incarceration in America, will be out in 2016 with Harvard University Press.
