Poetics, History, and Critical Thought

Two MIME Seminar sessions on

the Aristotelian idea that “Poetry is more philosophical than history.”

(Poetics, 1451b)

With

MARINA MESTRE (Tuesday, March 21st, 6:30pm, Casa Hispánica, room 505), from the École Normale Supérieure, Lyon, and Visiting Scholar at LAIC who will address some of the commentaries to Aristotle’s Poetics. Alexandra Méndez, a graduate student at LAIC, will coordinate this session. 

SOPHIE KLIMIS (Tueday, April 18th,  6pm, Casa Hispánica, room 201), from the Université Saint-Louis, Brussels, and Visiting Scholar at ICLS, who will comment on the philosophical project of Aristotle’s tragedy. Noel Blanco Mourelle, PhD Candidate at LAIC, and appointed Assistant Professor at the College of William & Mary will coordinate this session.
