Data from Galea 2011 and Minino 2002 were used to compose a slide that compares deaths attributable to social factors and listed “causes” of death in 2000. The data show that deaths attributable to social factors are similar in number to deaths from traditional, reported causes of death, such as stroke or lung cancer.
