Momentum builds for Core to Commencement (C2C), the Columbia College campaign, as it reaches $236 million, or 59% of its $400 million goal.
The Alexander Hamilton Award Dinner on Thursday, November 17, recognized exceptional faculty members who have served the College. The dinner raised nearly $600,000 as well to support financial aid and the Core Curriculum, furthering the C2C campaign. This year honored faculty members Ronald Breslow, University Professor; Eric Foner ’63CC, ’69GSAS, Dewitt Clinton Professor of History; and Kenneth T. Jackson, Jacques Barzun Professor of History. With their combined 142 years at Columbia, they have dedicated themselves to both distinguished scholarship and teaching College undergraduates. A medal ceremony with President Lee C. Bollinger, Dean James J. Valentini, and six University Trustees who are College alumni recognized the three honorees for their impact on generations of students.
Additionally, this month’s C2C campaign newsletter to alumni, parents, and friends introduced the second Core to Commencement: Stories film, featuring Chiara Ferrari-Wong ’18CC, a junior from Westwood, New Jersey, who studies astrophysics while pursuing dance. Ferrari-Wong exemplifies the College, with her passion for the Core Curriculum, internship at the Hayden Planetarium, and performances at the Columbia Ballet Collaborative.
