Prof. Enrique Gavilán’s “The Actuality of Baroque: the Spanish Holy Week”
One of the most fascinating street spectacles in Spain, closely related to the celebration of the Autos da Fe in the streets of the Iberian Peninsula and the Hapsburg Empire.

Enrique Gavilán, a Professor of History at the University of Valladolid is a leading Spanish intellectual. His work, published in German, Spanish, and English, includes an edition and study of Max Weber’s Sociology of Religion, several books on Wagner, theory of history, and the total work of art, aesthetics, street theater and performance, etc. He has also published about contemporary Spanish Art and Music, and he directs a research group in Germany, along with Arnold Zingerle, that works on street theater and performance.
