2:00 p.m. Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program Information Session  CSSW is the only school of social work to date to house a DBT training program. In this session Dr. Ivanoff will review the 12-month long training program offered to final-year Advanced Clinical Practice students, the application and program requirements, and DBT field experiences

10:00 a.m.- 04:00 p.m. Professional Development and Self Awareness Workshop This is an important one-day training focused on the significance of self-awareness in our professional development. Students will work in small groups with trained facilitators to engage, observe, explore, and discuss how our social locations can impact our work as professional social workers.

Lunch will be provided during this training.

The day’s training was developed by the Professional Development and Self Awareness (PDSA) student coordinators, in consultation with the Office of Advising and support of faculty and administrators. Throughout the year, the PDSA coordinators will develop, plan, and implement a series of trainings and other related events for the CSSW community designed to increase our knowledge and understanding of issues of power, privilege, identity, and difference and the ways they impact professional social work roles and services.

Boat Cruise Around Manhattan
Join your fellow classmates, P.A.C. leaders, faculty, and administrators for a boat cruise around Manhattan aboard the Spirit of New York!  This event is FREE!  Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, music, dancing, and fantastic NYC and Statue of Liberty views.  For more information, directions, and your wristband (required for admittance) look inside your packet which you received during Orientation Check-In. Please arrive between 6:00-6:15 p.m. as the boat leaves promptly at 7:00 p.m. so don’t miss the boat!

10:00 a.m.- 04:00 p.m. Preparation for the Profession (Day 1 of 3) Using a participatory approach, Preparation for the Profession (“P4P”) is designed to provide first-year students who are entering field education with a holistic understanding of beginning social work practice.  This 3-day training explores the issues, policies, and procedures that will impact your overall understanding of the profession and inform your practice.

There will be a break for lunch; please bring your own lunch or try a local restaurant.

04:15 p.m. Social Welfare Policy Exam This exam is optional and is made available to students who wish to try waiving out of the required first-year course T6801 Social Welfare Policy. This exam only will be offered at CSSW.
