Looking for ways to get involved and advocate for yourself and your peers during your time here at CSSW? Good news, we’re looking for students like you to serve as representatives during the 2018-19 academic year!

Serving as an Cohort Representativeor Curriculum and Standing Student Representative provides you the opportunity to become involved in the affairs of the school. This is a great way to work in partnership with various offices at CSSW, your peers, and faculty.

  Call to Join the Council of Representatives (CORe)! 

CORe members serve as an intermediary between the student cohorts and the Columbia School of Social Work administration. Each representative’s main responsibility is to respond to and advocate for student concerns that are brought to their attention. This position will allow the individual to strengthen leadership, communication and advocacy skills. CORe members will meet monthly with Student Services staff.

As a representative of your cohort, you will have the opportunity to respond to student concerns, and advocate on behalf of you and your peers with the faculty and administration through channels such as, but not limited to: town hall meetings, surveys, panels, etc. Statements will be reviewed by Student Services, Advising and Field Education.

Available Positions:

  • Second-Year Student Rep. (2 positions): must be a second-year student in the Two-Year or 16-Month programs
  • First-Year Student Rep. (2 positions):must be a first-year student in the Two-Year Program
  • Advanced Standing Program Rep. (1 position):must be a student in the Advanced Standing Program
  • Dual Degree Rep. (1 position):must be a Dual Degree student currently at Social Work
  • International Student Program Rep. (1 position): must be in the 5-term International Students Program
  • Extended Program Rep. (1 position): must be a student in the Extended Program
  • Reduced Residency Program Rep. (1 position):must be a  student in the Reduced Residency Program
  • Online Program rep. (1 position):must be a student enrolled in the program via the Online Campus.

Call for Curriculum and Standing Committee Student Representatives!

Curriculum and Standing Committee Representatives provide the voice and perspective of CSSW students throughout the curriculum review process, as well as during reviews of various policies and procedures at the School. Student representatives will be asked to voice opinions, experiences, and perspectives of the student body as they pertain to the work of the committee. There may be committee-specific duties that will be described by the Committee Chair. Statements will be reviewed by Student Services, Advising, and Field Education.

Available Positions:

  • Curriculum Committee Rep. (2 positions):  must be student in second year of Field
  • Diversity Committee Rep. (2 positions): must be one student in first year of Field, must be student one in second year of Field
  • Ethics Board Rep. (2 positions): must be student in second year of Field
  • Field Education Policy Committee Rep. (2 positions):must be one student in first year of Field, must be student in second year of Field
  • Admissions, Recruitment, and Financial Aid Rep. (2 positions):must be one student in first year of Field, must be student one in second year of Field
  • Advanced Clinical Area Rep. (1 position):must be student in second year of Field
  • Policy Practice Area Rep. (2 positions):must be one student in first year of Field, must be student in second year of Field
  • Social Enterprise Administration Practice Area Rep. (2 positions):must be one student in first year of Field, must be student in second year of Field
  • HBSE Area Rep (2 positions):must be student in first year of Field
  • Research Area Rep (2 positions):must be one student in first year of Field, must be student in second year of Field
