Description: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Congress has introduced emergency funds to strengthen nutrition assistance programs and provide income support. This webinar describes how the policy response supports vulnerable populations and areas for improvement. The presenters will
- Discuss the implications of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Discuss outcomes for specific subgroups
- Relevant challenges and inequalities
- Economic impact of payments through the Internal Revenue Service
- An overview of other income support policies and programs will also be provided.
Objectives: By attending this webinar, participants will
- Understand changes in SNAP benefits/eligibility and advocacy issues
- Differentiate alternative sources of food assistance and community support understand the roles and funding for various food distribution programs and food pantries
- Determine relevant benefits of cash assistance and tax credit programs
