COVID-Response-Tech Digital Social Work
Summary: We are looking for a social work student to work with us as part of the design research process for a tool we are working on to help volunteers at frontlinefoods.org plan meal deliveries to hospitals nationally in the USA (currently in 47 cities).The role would include:
* meeting with users of our tool and with members of our engineering team
* understanding the communities impacted by our users’ use of the tool
* assessing needs of the impacted communities (in this case likely healthcare workers and restaurant workers)
* identifying risks
* helping our users incorporate an understanding of those risks into their use of the tool
* helping bocoup incorporate an understanding of risks into usability findings to direct changes to the tool

Timeline
* Bocoup was brought onto this project last Wednesday, April 15th and are being asked to pilot this week.
* We have a usability test and potential pilot this week with our first user of the tool (a planner in Portland OR).
* Depending on how that goes we will expand to more cities next week (currently thinking SF and NYC)
* It would be great to have a placement attend our usability test this week if possible. If not we can slot them in next week, or even the following. This is an iterative process with multiple opportunities for onboarding a social worker, but the window is closing on mitigating risk.

Project outcomes for digital social work
* Real community needs to be incorporated into tool design and users’ use of the tool
* writing and reporting on digital social work and usability research process design for tech projects.
