This Thursday, we’re hosting Summerfest NYC, an evening to mingle with alumni, students and staff from five top graduate programs in international affairs, including us. It’s basically a fun-filled night to network with other professionals and learn more about the admissions process at each school.

We at SIPA and our partners at the Columbia Global Center are thrilled to inform you that we’re hosting the “Technology and Innovation in the Public Service” conference this week. For registered attendees, this is a chance to engage with top public sector managers from Brazil, India and other Columbia Global Center locations, as well as to watch and debate new audiovisual case studies filmed on location in New York, Rio, Mumbai and other cities. While registration for the event is already at capacity, I thought it would be nice to highlight the six case studies that will be discussed at the conference. There’s some pretty interesting content, so take a look at it and tell us what you think on social media using #SIPAGovTech2015.
Please welcome Chun-Fai Chan to the Class of 2017. Chun-Fai Chan works in adult education teaching GED-level classes, and hopes to collaborate with various entities in workforce development after SIPA. He says that being admitted to SIPA “was the happiest moment of my life” (not counting his wedding, of course).
Internships are an integral part of the student experience at SIPA. They open exciting new doors for our students and expose them to paths they may have never discovered if left to their own devices. While the incoming class doesn’t have to worry about finding an internship (or even a job) right now, it never hurts to learn the tricks to finding your ideal one. And SIPA offers several resources to make the job hunt easier. So one of our program assistants, Tinsley Corbett, MPA ’15, decided to share her job-hunting strategy with all of you. Thus, making it her farewell post on the SIPA Admissions Blog. (While Tinsley writes it from the vantage point of finding that post-graduation job, the tips are still applicable to new students looking for an internship upon enrolling at SIPA.)
