New Student Series Part 5: Vipul Nanda

Please say “hello” to Vipul Nanda, our next student in our new-student introduction series. Vipul is from New Delhi, India, and received his admissions letter at 5:00 a.m. He immediately contacted his parents and brother to give them the good news before falling back asleep. By the time he was ready for the workday, there was nothing you could do to remove the smile from his lips as he thought about the opportunities that awaited him at SIPA. Read the rest of his story below.

We’re closed Friday for Independence Day

This Saturday, July 4, marks an important day in the United States of America. It’s a national holiday—one commonly associated with barbeques, fireworks and parades—where we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. To honor the date, the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid will be closing early this week. So when we leave our office on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. EST, we will remain closed for the long weekend. We’ll resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. EST.

If you’re in town this weekend, I encourage you to check out NYC’s free flagship July 4 event, Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show. Just grab a spot near the Brooklyn Bridge (Manhattan or Brooklyn side) to watch the department store giant fire off more than 40,000 fireworks choreographed to a 25-minute patriotic soundtrack. (Even if you’re not an American, you can still enjoy the show!) You can also spend your afternoon at Nathan’s Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island; attend the New York Mets vs. Texas Rangers baseball game at Citifield in Queens; or if you’re with the family, check out the Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band at the Bronx Zoo.

No matter how you spend your Fourth of July weekend, I’m sure it’ll be a memorable one. After all, you’re in NYC!

Until Monday!

New Student Series Part 4: Meet Nick Reinhold

Please welcome Nick Reinhold to the incoming Fall 2015 class at SIPA! Nick’s spent the last several years on active duty for the Air Force ROTC, and has served in Texas, Iraq and Japan, among other locations. (Thank you for your service, Nick.) Nick is passionate about public service, and believes everyone in the United States should have the opportunity to be a public servant and reap the benefits of a GI Bill. Read what he means by that below. Read More →

Learn about SIPA this summer

Right now, it’s prime weather for walking along the waterfront off Riverside Drive to your favorite bistro before heading across town with your friends for an afternoon at one of the dozens of museums in the city. And the sun warms the sidewalks just enough for your eyes to catch a glimpse of that heat-haze coming off the pavement. Hence, it’s clearly summertime in NYC.  Read More →
