Rutgers Program in Medieval Studies announces a lecture by Suzanne Conklin Akbari (Professor of English and Medieval Studies, University of Toronto) on “World Literature in the Medieval Frame”

Suzanne Akbari is a scholar of medieval literature with special interests in its intersection with science and philosophy and in its global contexts. She is the author of Seeing Through the Veil: Optical Theory and Medieval Allegory (2004) and Idols in the East: European Representations of Islam and the Orient, 1100-1450 (2009); co-editor of Marco Polo and the Encounter of East and West (2008) and of the forthcoming Persistence of Philology: Rethinking the Arabic Role in Medieval Literary History; and volume editor of the Norton Anthology of World Literature, volume B: 100-1500.
