Lauren Shohet, Luckow Family Professor of English at Villanova University, will be discussing her paper, “Timon of the Woods: Or, Reading Like a Beast.” The paper is available upon request from [email protected].
Professor Shohet is the author of Reading Masques: The English Masque and Public Culture in the Seventeenth Century (OUP, 2010) as well as numerous articles on Milton, Jonson, Shakespeare, reading practices, adaptation, and genre theory. Last year, she was a Senior Research Fellow at the Freiberg Institute for Advanced Studies in Freiberg, Germany, and this year she is teaching both at Villanova and in the English Department at UPenn. Her current research interests include early modern drama and poetry; the history of the book and related media; and theories of adaptation.
