On December 2, Maureen Miller (UC-Berkeley) will give a talk on “Writing about Clothing in Late Medieval Rome: Papal Inventories, Conoisseurship, and Power” for the Medieval Club of New York.

Maureen C. Miller is Professor of History at the University of California, Berkeley. A historian of medieval Europe particularly interested in Italy and material culture, she has published three monographs — The Formation of a Medieval Church: Ecclesiastical Change in Verona, 950-1150 (1993), The Bishop’s Palace: Architecture and Authority in Medieval Italy (2000), and Clothing the Clergy: Virtue and Power in Medieval Europe, c. 800-1200 (2014) — in addition to a collection of translated sources, Power and the Holy in the Age of the Investiture Conflict (2005).
