A talk by noted art historian Dr. Amy Bloch (SUNY Albany) on

Lorenzo Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise:

Humanism, History, and Artistic Philosophy in the Italian Renaissance

The talk is based on her new book (CUP 2016).  It will take place at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY on Thursday, April 6 at 5 pm in Hancock 2023.   A description follows below.

Marist College is easily reached by the Hudson (green) line Metro-North train from GCT or 125th St.  A cab from the station to campus, on the banks of the Hudson River, is roughly $3-5.  Due to the timing of the talk express trains north are available thus shortening the commute, so please check the schedule.  If you’d like to make a night of it, the campus is a 5-min. drive from the restaurants in the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and numerous other places to eat both in downtown Poughkeepsie and around the train station itself. Please feel free to contact Janine Peterson with any questions.
