The University Seminar in Ottoman and Turkish Studies is happy to announce their first seminar of the Spring 2014 semester with

Professor Maria Mavroudi Monday, 3 February, 2014, at 1:00pm in the Faculty House at Columbia University.

Maria Mavroudi is professor of History and Classics at Berkeley. She specializes in Byzantine and Islamic History, and has published widely on relationships and transmission of knowledge between the two, including her book, A Byzantine Book on Dream Interpretation: The Oneirocriticon of Achmet and Its Arabic Sources (E.J. Brill: Leiden, 2002). In 2004 she was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.

 The seminar will be preceded by an optional self-paid lunch in the Faculty House at 12:00pm. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to [email protected] and indicate whether or not you intend to stay for the meal.
