Dr. Males is spending the semester at Fordham. It was too late in the year to arrange for him to give a talk at Penn, but he has offered to talk informally, over lunch, about his own scholarship on Old Norse/Old Icelandic, and more generally about new scholarly and critical trends in those fields. Dr. Males recently completed his Ph.D. at University of Oslo, where he wrote on Skaldic poetry. More recently, he’s been working on the Latin culture of medieval Scandinavia, especially the reception of Virgil and other classical authors. He is part of a research project on Intellectual Culture in Medieval Scandinavia, 1100-1350.
