Jonathan Phillips, Professor of Crusade History at Royal Holloway, University of London, is the author numerous books about the history of the crusades, Christianity, and the Middle East including Caffaro, Genoa and the Twelfth Century Crusades (Ashgate, 2013) Holy Warriors: A Modern History of the Crusades (Bodley Head, 2009) and The Second Crusade: Extending the Frontiers of Christendom (Yale, 2007). His six part series The Road from Christ to Constantine aired on PBS this Autumn.
