Roundtable on Chaucer’s Legend of Good Women
This event will include three brief presentations of work-in-progress on Geoffrey Chaucer’s Legend of Good Women, and then an open discussion of the poem and its critical reception. The three presentations put into play affect and object theory, and new understandings of medieval theories of space, in order to rethink our interpretation of Chaucer’s complex work.
The presentations will be:
Glenn Burger, “Ugly Feelings and Gendered Conduct in Chaucer’s Legend of Good Women”
Matthew Boyd Goldie, “The Intense Proxemics of Chaucer’s Legend of Thisbe”
Steven F. Kruger, “Object Inheritance in Chaucer’s Legend of Good Women”
