Speaker Bio:
Tiffany D. Vann Sprecher is Assistant Professor of History at Kingsborough Community
College in Brooklyn, NY. She has published on medieval midwives, priests, and
extralegal enforcement of church regulations, with her most recent article appearing in the January, 2016 issue of Speculum, Vann Sprecher is also active in public outreach, having lectured in prisons and community educational facilities. She has also worked as a subject matter consultant in the private sector.
Discussant Bio:
Sara McDougall is Associate Professor of history at John Jay College and appointed in French at the CUNY Graduate Center, She published _Bigamy and Christian Identity in late medieval Champagne_ in 2012 with Penn Press and her second book _Royal Bastards: The birth of illegitimacy_, is under contract with Oxford. She was a Mellon fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in 2014-2015. She has published in the Journal of the History of Sexuality, Law and History Review, and Gender & History. She is currently editing a volume on Marriage’s Global Past for Gender & History and also a 6-volume Cultural History of Crime for Bloomsbury Press.
