Professor Cannon will discuss Latinate education and English poetic composition in later medieval Britain, serving as a curtain-raiser to his forthcoming Oxford University Press volume, From Literacy to Literature. The session will begin with a conversation with Paul Strohm about the announced topic and about the contours of the book to which it will belong, then moving to further discussion among those present.
