“Building Bridges: East and West – Old World and New”
Jordi Savall is among the foremost performers of early music in the world today. He has brought unfamiliar works of the past to millions of listeners in beautiful and creative programs with his ensembles Hesperion XXI, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, and Le Concert des Nations, as well as his record label Alia Vox.
At Columbia, Savall will speak about early music as an element that builds bridges of understanding between the Old and the New World, as well as between cultures of the East and the West. The lecture, which will take place in the Teatro at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, will be illustrated by musical examples and followed by a question and answer session.
