The “Italy at Columbia” lecture series invites prominent Columbia University professors to open one of their regularly scheduled classes to the public, bringing students and the community together in the Academy building.This lecture is part of Prof. Tommasino’s course, “Mediterranean contacts, Mediterranean conflicts” which proposes a new approach to Medieval and Early Modern Italian Literature.

Pier Mattia Tommasino (PhD, Scuola Normale Superiore) is Assistant Professor of Italian at Columbia University.  His first book is L’Alcorano di Macometto.  Storia di un libro del Cinquecento europeo, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2013. He currently organizes The Italian Mediterranean Colloquium, a permanent seminar on the political, religious, and cultural relations between Italy and the Mediterranean.
