Resources for Researchers

There are different resources available at Columbia that allow undergraduate students (CC, SEAS and GS) to develop, fund and present their research. Below is a working list of some such opportunities!

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an opportunity to present your research in poster format to the Columbia community. Each year undergraduate students of Columbia University are invited to present their research in poster format. Interested in presenting at the next symposium? Please complete the online application form. URF staff will be in touch at the beginning of the Fall semester with additional information for student presenters. Additionally, Columbia Engineering hosts the Annual Engineering and Science Research Symposium early in the Fall semester.

Looking for funding to support your research? Many departments offer specific opportunities and resources to undergraduate students. You can also explore the opportunities listed on the URF database.

As you plan for your research, or begin to conduct research, take advantage of the resources that Columbia has to offer!

  • Columbia Libraries offer workshops on many topics, including how to make the most of remote resources, finding data, and citation management. Check out these offerings here!
  • Want to get feedback on a research statement, or need help finding a faculty mentor? Speak to a URF advisor and/or join a workshop that focuses on these and other research-related topics.
  • Interested in publishing your research? Columbia University Libraries Journals and Digital Scholarship support the creation, discovery, and dissemination of quality open-access research.
  • Digital Scholarship provides support for every stage of the research cycle – planning, designing, and implementation. There are several resources available to students interested in digital humanities, open science, podcasting and publishing, integrating digital methods into research, or enhancing computational skills.
  • The Digital Science Center provides a wide range of software to support research and coursework in several disciplines.
  • The Core Scholars program is another avenue through which students may reflect on and explore topics related to the Core.
