Seeples-Recommended Restaurants for Every Occasion

If you want more information as you’re starting the 2019 application, you can find us at these grad school fairs. We also encourage prospective students to visit campus to get more information on the application process and experience what student life in NYC would be like.

NYC and student culture intersects on food. SIPA students compiled a list of 18 restaurant favorites for every occasion, from dates to taking your family out. A few top picks?

  • Good for Friends: Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. “The best place for a big group, eat lots of meat and drink cold pitchers of beer. The service is warm and friendly, prices are reasonable by NYC standards, and the place is just generally fun. Must try: Deliciously juicy wings, brisket and the St. Louis pork ribs.”
  • Good for Drinks: Ellington In The Park. “Best for day drinking in nice weather.”
  • Cheap eats: The halal cart on 116th and Amsterdam in front of Columbia Law School. Oddly specific, but the numerous food carts around Columbia campus don’t always show up in an internet search. Our students recommend this halal cart for a cheap, convenient and delicious meal.

Learn more about the MIA/MPA program this summer

As we get ready to say goodbye to our graduating students, we’re also preparing to welcome a new class of students.  All the while starting up our information sessions for interested prospective candidates.

Our May campus sessions have been posted on our website — including our May 13th (oh! that’s next week) 12:00 pm ET virtual online information session.  (Register for it here.)  With all the hustle and bustle of admissions and graduation, we neglected to update the website with all of our summer dates but check back in a day or two and they’ll be up.  Besides our campus and online sessions, you can expect to find us in DC, Chicago, and Berkeley this summer.

Hope to see you around this summer.

Office Communication Top Ten List – Entry #9

This is the ninth entry in our “Top 10″ list for you to consider when communicating with our office and applying.

Number 9 – Attend an information session or recruitment event.

While I realize not everyone can make it to New York, if you can the best way to obtain information is to attend an information session.  If you live nearby or are visiting New York this is probably the best way to learn about our programs and how to put together a competitive application.  Due to the large number of visitors and our small staff we are unable to arrange walk in appointments.  You are always welcome to visit and someone will assist you, however we are rarely able to provide extensive individual counseling appointments.

If you would like to schedule an information session, which are held every Monday at 6pm and every Friday at 12pm excluding holidays, it is best to send an email to [email protected] and then we can confirm the session with you.

We also attend recruitment events across the country and internationally as I mentioned in this blog post here. However, you are always welcome to come to the office during business hours and ask a few questions or obtain information.

"The most global public policy school, where an international community of students and faculty address world challenges."
