Future Lab Members
Interested in joining the Yuste lab?
We are a collaborative and creative group of scientists with diverse backgrounds and interests, but united by our drive to understand how neural circuits work. Our expertise spans from biophysics, neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, engineering, optics, chemistry and computational theory.
Postdocs
Please send the following to Rafael Yuste: [email protected]
- a cover letter that describes your past research experience and motivation for applying to the Yuste lab
- a brief (~1 page) description of proposed research for your postdoc your most relevant published papers and pre-prints (for multi-author papers, please describe your contribution)
- names and contact information for 3 or more potential references (letters are not needed during the initial stage)
Ph.D. students
Candidates for graduate study should apply either through the Department of Biological Sciences, the Neurobiology and Behavior PhD Program, or the Biophysics PhD Program. We also host MD PhD students and students from other related PhD programs at Columbia. All programs allow graduate students to rotate through multiple labs in the first year, providing a diversity of research experiences prior to selecting a lab. For application information and more details about the graduate programs, visit the department’s admissions site.
Undergraduates
We invite motivated undergraduates who are driven and have a passion for science to apply for a position in the lab through the C3500 course or SURF program. A minimum commitment of 12 hours per week during two semesters and a full- time 10 week summer work, is expected. We prefer undergraduate students who are committed to working in the laboratory for several years.
