Call for Applications: History in Action Research Assistantship (HARA)

The History in Action Initiative is pleased to announce the History in Action Research Assistantship (HARA).  This project fund is part of the AHA-Mellon Career Diversity Initiative at Columbia University.

HARA positions offer graduate students the opportunity to develop a working relationship with a sponsoring organization to explore the potential applications of their historical training.

This year, positions are available with the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and the Tenement Museum. Both opportunities allow grantees to develop professional contacts,  explore the variety of career paths open to historians, and contribute their time and energy to rewarding projects with remarkable organizations.

Proposals are also welcome from students who would like to develop a working relationship with other organizations in alignment with their research interests.

HARA grantees will contribute content to the HIA website and to affiliated social media over the course of their award period.

All grantees will also participate in the History in Action Conference (HIA III), to be held January 21-22, 2016.

Candidates must be graduate students in good standing in the Department of History.  They must also be eligible for TA release (G2-G5).

Applicants should send a CV and cover letter to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
