Summer Research Grants

New in 2013!

We are excited to be able to offer our post-baccalaureate students the opportunity to apply for funding to support their summer research in laboratories and field locations in the north-east and beyond. This year, we have two successful students so far:

Marisol Diaz

– Marisol will be working with Drs Joaquim and Helga Goes at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory investigating the role of environmental parameters such as salinity and temperature in regulating the the distribution of phytoplankton functional groups in the Amazon River Plume.

Heidi Cunnick

– Heidi will be working in collaboration with the Housatonic Valley Association on stream macroinvertebrate communities in relation to water quality parameters throughout the Aspetuck River Watershed. There is growing concern about the resilience of the local brook trout population, and Heidi’s work will help to characterize the stream community and identify potential threats to the trout’s food supply.
