The Columbia University Tzu Chi Collegiate Association (prospective), in collaboration with the Taiwanese American Students Association (TASA), will hold a second information session and tea reception to connect students of the Columbia University and Greater New York community with the humanitarian mission and work of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. We welcome all to join us for information and updates, activities and performances, and a traditional vegetarian dinner.
Founded in Hualien by Dharma Master Cheng Yen, Tzu Chi Foundation (literally “Compassionate Relief”), the largest non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Chinese-speaking world, conducts humanitarian work through its four missions of charity, medicine, education, and humanistic culture. A major civil society actor, the Tzu Chi Foundation has approximately 10 million members across chapters in some 50 countries. Its volunteers have built many hospitals and schools worldwide and distributed food, medicine, blankets, and clothing to victims of poverty and natural calamities. Countless numbers around the world have drawn succor from Tzu Chi’s philanthropic beneficence.

「一步一腳印—2014年慈濟在哥大介紹暨感恩茶會」

哥倫比亞大學準慈濟大專青年聯誼會(「哥大慈青」)與台美學生聯誼會聯合舉辦第二次介紹暨感恩茶會，希冀藉此機會，透過志工學員的現場說明、精采活動表演以及傳統的中式素食晚點，連結哥大師生及大紐約地區人士與佛教慈濟基金會的志業及人道工作。我們歡迎大家的熱烈參與。
在台灣，佛教擁有最多的信眾，然而數百年來，眾多佛教宗派當中，唯有一個是新近在台灣本地發展成立的宗門，也就是「慈濟宗」。以人與人之間相處為道場，「慈濟功德會」自花蓮起家，透過慈善、醫療、教育、人文等四大志業實踐，在全球逾五十個國家與地區都能看到慈濟志工的身影。慈悲為懷、濟世救人，一介瘦弱的證嚴法師，能夠感動周遭，慷慨付出，匯聚龐大的社會動能，展現豐厚的良善文化，顯得難能可貴。慈濟人不計付出與辛勞，他們驚人的救災速度和效率更最廣為人知。在各地發生災害時，慈濟志工總是趕往現場，分發食物、毛毯和禦寒衣物等救援物資。慈濟基金會也幫忙長期的家園重建，設立醫療診所和學校，世界上有無數的災民受惠於慈濟的人道援助。
