You’d think that searching for an entry-level job as an IT graduate would be fairly simple. Anyone without work experience knows, however, how difficult it can be, and yet there are ways to get good IT jobs without a bachelor’s degree and without any work experience.
IT job opportunities available right now
These days, with everyone having to pretty much work from home, any online job where they aren’t looking for experience is something to be grabbed with gusto. Assignment Overflow is a programming language homework help company offering a programming services job that you can do from home.
They are hiring programmers and computer science students right now. Programmers need to be proficient in PHP, Java, Python, C, C++ & C#. You can conveniently apply online and if you do land a job with them there, you can work in fields such as digital marketing, programming, mobile app development, and software.
You can also do business development IT infrastructure or something else IT-related. And the cherry on the top – no experience is necessary except you need a computer.
Look for an internship
If you’re sick of hearing the words ‘we’re looking for someone with more experience,’ then why not think about being an intern or apprentice?
There are some great internships that make it possible to also earn while you learn. You never know – the internship could lead to a permanent job. Take a look at some of the larger IT companies you imagine you’d like to work at and see if some of them don’t run internship programs. Some last for just weeks but there are others that can go on for a year or longer and it will be all the experience you need.
Start low
When you’ve graduated and are looking for IT jobs without any experience, start low. Some people turn their noses up at the idea of working in a position considered to be at the bottom of the ladder. They wonder why they can’t find work.
You have to be realistic and start at the bottom, find out how things work and then work your way up from there. There’s nothing wrong with aiming high, but if you’ve no previous experience, starting your job search by applying for senior roles is pointless.
Be realistic and instead target entry-level or junior jobs and be prepared to start at the bottom and work your way up. Don’t be too proud to start in a small company and tailor your applications to suit what they’re looking for.
You can volunteer
Volunteering isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea as it spells working without compensation. And yet, if you are an IT graduate who has had doors of employment opportunity slammed in your face for lack of experience, this might be a chance for you to get some experience.
Volunteering can also look good on your CV as it shows you will have picked up some useful skills and gained some confidence. It’s always best to find volunteer work relevant to the area you’d like to work in, which in your case is IT.
Self-employment
There is nothing to stop you from starting your own IT business. You don’t need the experience to start your own business but it will take time for it to become established.
It can develop into a solid job for you, even if it takes a while to pocket a salary. Between offering cloud services, network security, troubleshooting computers, wifi, networks, etc. you’ll be kept busy building up experience.
With Covid-19, the business landscape had forever changed and people working from home are going to rely on local IT specialists to keep them updated on technology changes.
