The MIA/MPA Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 applications for admission have been live for a week now. (Yay! Or yikes?!) Many of you are contemplating how best to climb the difficult mountain—and not lose your heads in the process—so I wanted to remind you of a few things before you begin the process of admission.
With the final enrollment deadline here, I wanted to share with our newly-admitted students (and newly-enrolled students) an update to your status pages. If you’ve visited the Status Page or read this January 7 blog post, you are already familiar with how it works. And you may have noticed it can be ambiguous with the details, specifically regarding the Application Checklist. During the application period, the Application Checklist uses red Xs and green checkmarks indicating if our office received your required application materials. It distinguishes between “Awaiting” and “Received,” depending on if we had acquired your materials or not; without discerning between official and unofficial. Thus, for our admitted students it’s not quite that easy to see the differences in the received status of your official vs. unofficial documents.
To everyone who’s had a difficult time reaching the Admissions Office, I want to personally apologize for our delay in responding to you. Since releasing admission decisions in March, we’ve received an overwhelming number of visitors, phone calls, voicemails and emails. We’re working on responding to everyone’s concerns in a timely manner, and I hope you’re able to wait it out just a little bit longer.
In the meantime, I wanted to recap some important blog posts you may have missed in recent weeks. As a newly-admitted student, I think you’ll find this information useful. As you may already be aware, decisions rolled out Monday afternoon. While the majority of decisions have already gone out, we plan to release the remainder over the next few days. It hasn’t been easy issuing a mix of decisions to hundreds of qualified candidates, but the Admissions Committee has done a fantastic job nonetheless. While not all decision letters have brought happy news, I know you have questions about what to do next. Thus, I thought this would be a good time to recap what it all means; from waitlists to appeals, and everything in between.
