Interventions and Dissemination

Interventions

In order to advance its mission, the Social Intervention Group (SIG) uses several different types of intervention methods such as digital, microfinance, and couple based. See below for SIG’s latest interventions, and please do get in touch if interested in adopting an intervention in your work.

Couples-Based Intervention
The Social Intervention Group (SIG) spearheaded the use of couples-based interventions in the late 1990s. Since that time, the intervention has been adapted and used by many organizations. For a short history about this innovative intervention, please follow this link.

ConnectHIP (High Impact Prevention) is an innovative, three-session, couple-based intervention tailored to target the intersection of sexual risk behavior and substance use among racial/ethnic and sexual minorities, with the ultimate goal of providing an evidence-based HIV/STI prevention intervention that can be delivered in a variety of settings.

Intervention for Women Who Use Drugs

WINGS (Women Initiating New Goals of Safety)  is an evidence-based screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment service tool that is designed to identify different types of Intimate Partner Violence and Gender Based Violence among women who use drugs. The intervention enables them to develop safety planning strategies, strengthen their social support network, and more.

WINGS can be delivered in 1o 2 sessions and has been integrated with HIV counseling and testing and linkage to HIV treatment interventions.
