17th Annual International Sustainable Development Research Conference:

The 17th Annual Conference of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS) is being hosted by the Earth Institute, Columbia University, from May 8th-10th, 2011.  ISDRC17 will explore how progress in the field of sustainable development can be translated into political action in preparation for the Rio+20 conference to be held in 2012.  The conference will serve as a forum for open and diverse intellectual discourse on sustainability, with a focus on identifying practicable steps towards a sustainable future that are ready for implementation on the local, regional and global scale.  For further details, including abstract/paper submission and registration deadlines, see the ISDRC17 website [here] or conference flyer [here].

Social events, including an informal reception and a short tour of the New York City area, are being planned in conjunction with the IPWSD.  Further details regarding these events will be posted here as they become available.

The Sustainable Development Doctoral Society is the official organization of the students in the Ph.D. Program in Sustainable Development at Columbia University.

We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors for this event: the Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC) at Columbia University; and the Office of the University Chaplain at Columbia University.
