We (SMILE Lab) are hiring 2~3 Ph.D. students in the 24-25 academic year, and welcome various forms of collaboration, including opportunities for postdocs, visiting scholars, M.Phil, and etc. The instruction details can be found below and I will read every email with complete materials seriously. I will begin to reply emails starting from late June and schedule interviews periodically. Thank you very much in advance for your interest and time.
Read before Application & Preparation
As suggested by the lab name ‘SMILE’, in addition to pursuing technological advance in research, I also wish that all Ph.D. students can keep smiling throughout this journey. Pursuing a Ph.D. requires a rigorous endeavor, and being optimistic and positive towards the challenges is crucial. Moreover, the mission of AI also includes having the whole society ‘smile’. Beyond just improving algorithms, though cross-disciplinary applications, applying AI to overcome technological limitations and improve our daily life, is also critical.
Correspondingly, my expectation on a successful Ph.D. graduate is to be a productive Researcher and reliable Project Leader, which is also my mission to train my student as a Ph.D. advisor.
What I Will Do for Lab Members
-
- Provide an energetic and respectful research environment. Tailor the Ph.D. project topic for each student based on the research background and grant requirement.
- Hold weekly 1:1 in-depth discussion, aimed at enhancing students’ research skills and capability to plan and complete a comprehensive work independently.
- Value the management for both within-field projects and cross-discipline collaboration. Encourage my students to articulate themselves and take the responsibility & leadership.
- Provide financial support students in publishing academic papers in top-tier conferences & journals and attend international academic conferences.
