Sensors and Components
For a successful hydroponic system the nutrient solution must be maintained throughout the plants life. This means that several factors need to be monitored and ultimately changed to optimize plant growth. This includes pH, electrical conductivity (EC), temperature, and lighting. Therefore several sensors and feedback systems are necessary for our system to by autonomous. All of the sensors are controlled by an Arduino in which the feedback system is supported with a mechanical relay.
pH Sensor: To measure pH levels
EC Sensor: To measure EC
Peristaltic Pumps: To supply pH Up, pH Down, and buffer nutrient solution to main reservoir
Heater: To maintain temperature in the main reservoir
Lighting Fixture: To supply light to the growing plants
Float Switch: To maintain water level in main reservoir
Mechanical Relay: To provide feedback system to devices
