Wellness Week (formerly Self-Care Day) offers the CSSW community a series of programs focused on supporting holistic well-being: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, financial, and environmental wellness. All CSSW students, faculty, administrators, and alums are invited to attend CSSW Wellness Week events, which will take place from October 24th–30th!

Monday, October 24th

Financial Wellness & You: Cultivating Financial Wellness for Today & Tomorrow

In this presentation, Financial Literacy topics, resources, and tools will be presented to assist attendees in better understanding the skills needed to endeavor toward Financial Wellness; a state of well-being surrounding one’s individual financial affairs. Topics presented include:

Understanding and Confronting Embarrassment

Halloween Fest

Join us for a Halloween Celebration as we decorate pumpkins and enjoy lunch together as a community. Costumes and/or festive headbands are encouraged!

Exploring and Healing from Fatphobia

This session will explore how fatphobia plays a role in the field of social work, including how it intersects with racism, and identify opportunities for personal healing and accountability within the field. This workshop will be facilitated by Jennifer Meyer, LMSW, MPH.

Columbia Care Access Project presents
Harm Reduction 101

We will discuss harm reduction philosophy, where it can be applied, and how it is commonly practiced. Additionally, we will cover harm reduction topics specific to both health care and personal settings.

About Columbia Care Access Project (CCAP): CCAP is a medical student-run free clinic sponsored by the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. CCAP was founded with harm reduction as a core part of its mission and primarily supports people who are experiencing homelessness and/or use drugs. CCAP’s focus is to provide free, quality medical services and distribute supplies, including safe-use items, to Washington Heights community members.

Radical Rest: A Guided Meditation
6:00–7:00 PM | Zoom

Meditation is a universal practice that cultivates inner peace and happiness. With our busy lives and various obligations, meditation gives us a chance to rest and to bring ease to the body and the mind. It is an essential life skill to help us live in the moment with greater focus and inner stillness for a happy, successful, and peaceful life. All are welcome to join this guided meditation workshop, where we will have an introduction to meditation, mindful movement, guided meditation practice, and time for questions and sharing. This workshop is suitable for all participants, from those who have never meditated before to more experienced practitioners. Come join this mini-retreat for radical rest in community with others. Vera Ruangtragool, MPH of Truly Well will facilitate a meditation workshop for CSSW students.

Saturday, October 29th

Indiana Pacers vs. Brooklyn Nets
7:30 PM | Barclay’s Center

Come join your CSSW classmates as we watch the Brooklyn Nets compete against the Indiana Pacers at Barclay’s Center on Saturday, October 23rd at 7:30 PM. Fill out this form by noon on October 21st to be entered into the lottery for a free ticket to the game. Students will be notified via email if they have been selected to attend the program.
