Ali Moughania specializes in the inter/multidisciplinary area of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies / Intellectual History. His Ph.D. degree was conferred by Columbia University, where he also served as a Teaching Fellow for several years. Among his contributions with historical grounding and contemporary relevance is his Ph.D. dissertation, titled, “Paradigmatic Criteria of ‘Leadership’ in Islamic Thought: Subject-formation at Sunnī, Shīʿī, and Ṣūfī Crossroads.” His more recent projects include articles on learning etiquette manuals and Islamic forms of “leadership,” an annotated translation titled The Mahdi Paradigm, in addition to research at the intersection of ethics, messianic anticipation, and technological advancements.
