Summer Travel

I have spent the last two weeks away from the office on business travel and have some catching up to do when I return to the office.  I will also be departing again for the Washington D.C. Idealist.org Fair later this week.  As a reminder, there are Idealist.org fairs in both NYC and DC this week – details are here.

If you are a new student that has sent us summer reading information or photo information rest assured that we have received it and I will be working your material into the rotation soon.  Future applicants also stay tuned as I will be posting information on the application process as well.

Summer Reading – Part 6

First let me state what this entry is not.  The links you will find below are not the syllabi for new students entering in the fall of 2011.  The syllabi listed below are samples taken from courses taught in the 2010-11 academic year  for some of our core requirements.  Faculty are working over the summer to determine the exact content of classes for the upcoming semester and syllabi will be distributed during the first week of classes.

What this entry is trying to accomplish is to provide you with samples of content of our core degree courses from the past.  Some incoming students have made requests for examples from past courses and our curricular affairs office passed along the following.

So, please feel free to explore the syllabuses provided below to get an idea of the coursework and reading requirements.  Consider this a taste of a few of our offerings to get familiar with the work load and types of assignments you might expect.  Please do not attempt to contact the individuals listed in the documents as these courses have been completed.

New Student Photo Series 2011 – Post #6

More photos from incoming students . . .

My name is Carolina Ocampo-Maya, an incoming MPA-DP from Colombia.  I have been a sustainable development practitioner during the last five years, and every day my work is more focused on sustainable agriculture and rural development.  I am passionate about rural areas and I want to share with you photos that I believe illustrate the beauty of the countryside.

Each cup of coffee has a story behind.  Here two typical Colombian coffee workers, rural people who need pertinent policies to attend their needs.  These are the people who inspire me every day.

Children from a rural community in Cartagena, Colombia.  Since they don’t have little toy cars (forget about remote control carts), they have attached LIVE crabs to strings!!!
