About

The Formal Philosophy Group (FPG) at Columbia University is a faculty-student group dedicated to the study of the relation between formal methods and general philosophical investigation. The group sponsors periodic conferences at Columbia University, including the 2010 Synthese Conference and the 2011 Progic conference. FPG also holds a series of regular meetings and presentations throughout the academic year. For 2011-2012, the meetings (supervised by Professor Haim Gaifman) cover a variety of topics in foundations of probability, rational choice, common knowledge, and games.

The FPG website is founded by Yang Liu and Rush Stewart in the summer of 2011 and co-edited by the members of FPG. The aims are to promote and publicize the research activities of FPG at Columbia, and to provide a channel for information exchange both at the local level and in the philosophical community at large. Anyone who is interested in participating in FPG activities or contributing to the website is welcome to contact us.
