Our Partners
Rebuilding Together NYC
Serving all five New York City boroughs, Rebuilding Together NYC is a nonprofit
housing organization that rehabilitates homes and revitalizes communities to make them
safe and healthy. With the assistance of volunteers, they provide free critical home
repairs for low-income homeowners, primarily those who are elderly, disabled, and
veterans. Rebuilding Together NYC is one of our closest partner organizations and we
regularly send volunteers to build with them and aid in their home rehabilitation efforts.

Friends of Rockaway
Friends of Rockaway is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in response
to the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy on the Rockaway Peninsula. They are
dedicated to rebuilding homes for Sandy-impacted families, who were displaced from the
storm and cannot afford to rebuild on their own. Columbia Habitat for Humanity has
been working with Friends of Rockaway for over a year. We partner with them by
sending volunteers to help with their ongoing Sandy relief efforts. For more information

Habitat International
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world,
to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build
their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support,
Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a
better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat
for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.

Habitat NYC
Founded in 1984 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International,
Habitat NYC builds in the five boroughs of New York City, building homes for ownership
by families and individuals in need.
We build the homes with the “sweat equity” of our family partner homeowners who work
side-by-side with volunteers. Professional contractors build the exterior shells to code,
and the volunteers do the interior construction. Each year thousands of New Yorkers
from faith institutions, corporations, schools and civic groups come to build with us and learn
more about how to help solve New York’s affordable housing crisis.
In addition to building homes, Habitat NYC is a leading advocate for affordable housing.
Our goal is to ensure that every New Yorker has a decent, affordable home, by creating a social
movement to end the housing crisis plaguing New York City and by calling on elected officials to
make affordable housing a priority.
With the help of thousands of volunteers every year, Habitat NYC has served more than 465 families
in the five boroughs of New York City through home construction & repairs. Habitat NYC’s first project
in New York City began with President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter’s visit and build in the Lower East Side.
