“Step Up and Speak Out”: HIV/AIDS Awareness Event

Come join Las Hermanas of the Beta Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. for a great discussion on the impact of HIV/AIDS on the Latino community. We will discussing the role culture plays into this, covering topics such as Machismo and Marianismo theories as well as the intersection of other societal issues. The goal of the discussion is to make the community aware of the issues, myths, medical facts, etc. around HIV/AIDS.

We will have a guest speaker who is HIV+ who will

   speak about his experience. There will also be a workshop on safer sex/non-violence led by our own Hermana Vivian Cortés who is a public health professional.
