The Gospel of the Kingdom

The Gospel is the main message that the Bible tells to all the world.

What kind of message is it? Firstly, it is news. What is the news? All puns aside, look at the news today. If you look at the news, this world is a scary, broken, sad place to live. When did the world become such a terrible place? God created the world and human beings so that they might know Him and enjoy Him forever, without sickness, sadness, and death.  But man rebelled against God and His command to trust Him. So God let man and woman live on their own without God, doing their own desires. And that is why the world is in such a mess!

But God still loved His creation and made a plan to save the world. His plan was to send someone very special: His Son. Now you may be wondering how God can have a son, or ask “aren’t all people God’s sons and daughters?” God did not reproduce like men or animals, or even create His Son as He did with the world and us human beings. Rather, the “Son of God” is a title. God existed from eternity past as the Trinity God: God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, one God in three Persons.

God the Son became a human being to be called Jesus, the Son of God. He is very special: his birth alone testifies to this fact. He was born of a virgin woman to show that He was very different from all other human beings. He was both human and God at the same time. His life also testifies to this fact. He healed the incurable, opened blind eyes, and even raised the dead. But by healing the sick and raising the dead all the time someone gets sick or someone dies, was not the way that God wanted to save the world.

God decided to save the world by rather the death of His Son. How? You see, man’s rebellion against God earned him not only pain and suffering in this world, but also death and eternal judgment after death. This means pain and suffering forever in the next world, called Hell. God is so big, that doing wrong against Him incurs such a costly punishment. But the great news is that the Son of God decided to receive this costly punishment all by Himself through His own death. Jesus could have theoretically lived forever on earth because he never rebelled against God. But he decided rather to be mistreated, mocked, beaten and eventually crucified by sinful men and women. The motivation and the meaning of this tragic death was to die in place of sinners who will now trust in him, a vicarious death.

But the best isn’t over yet. Jesus rose again from the dead to show the world that whoever now trusts and believes in him will now know God and enjoy God forever, and live with Him just as they were created to do! How this works is as follows: God is now waiting for people to respond to this news. But time will come when God will establish a new world, where there will be no more sickness and sadness and death. Whoever has trusted in the Son of God by that time will enjoy God forever. But those who have not will be cast into hell forever.

So dear reader! Respond to this news by acknowledging your rebellion against God and come humbly to Jesus His Son believing this good news!
