Fall 2019 DataFest

DATAFEST FALL 2019

CSC DataFest Fall 2019 successfully concluded on November 17, 2019. We would like to thank all the participants, judges and the organizers who made this event a huge success!

We had 6 enthusiastic groups presenting their interesting findings on the topic of religiosity. Every group came so prepared where they developed robust models and analyzed the dataset with insights related to crime rates, dominant belief change and the result of election.

This year, CSC and ACG worked together to hold the DataFest in order to have a newest version data competition. Participants worked on a real-world dataset in group of up to five. The competition was from Friday evening to Sunday morning. In Sunday afternoon, they presented their final results in front of a panel of judges. There were prizes for the top two teams. All programming languages and technical skills are welcomed. Great chance to get a hands-on experience in analyzing and handling large datasets!

We sincerely appreciate activity advisor: Prof. Tian Zheng and judges: Prof. Jincheng Liu, Prof. Thibault Vatter, and Dr. Wayne Lee for coming to the DataFest.
